So you don't own a horse. Well that is no excuse not to own a pair of cowboy boots! You're no ballerina either, and yet that didn't stop you from donning a pair of ballerina flats last spring.
The classic Western boot is as American as apple pie, and this fall, it is also oh-so-trendy. (Due, in no small part, to the summer blockbuster "The Dukes of Hazzard," we're sure.) But how to wear this Texan staple outside the Lone Star State? We've got three great looks made for walkin' in any state.
The Classic Look
Denim jeans and cowboy boots go together like bagels and cream cheese. Like Thai take-out and the Cohen kitchen. Like Julie Cooper and a dicey scandal. Look for jeans in a boot-cut style - you'll want to wear the pant legs over your boots, and not tucked in - and a super distressed wash. Just bought a pair of low-rise worn straight through with holes? Even better! Cinch 'em with a leather belt adorned with an enormous buckle, and get ready to strut your stuff.
A la Daisy Duke, show off your toned, tanned legs by pairing your new Western kicks with a micro-mini. We like the broken-in denim skirts with slightly frayed edges. The ones that have that "I've been wearing this for years" kind of feel. And since your boots are exposed - and not hidden under your jeans - opt for a flashier pair. Think red leather; a pair with fringe; or a pair with pattern insets, like flowers or stars.
The Bohemian trend meets the Western look this season, and the results are simply smashing. Pair your boots with a flouncey, calf-length skirt and viola! Instant style. The trendiest of fashionistas will rock this look with brightly colored boots of hot pink or teal blue. Add sparkle to your swagger when you loop a crystal necklace around the ankle of one boot.
