70's Hair (Updated, of course)
by Erika Dykstra

Looking back on the decades, we can confidently say that we've loved 'em all. We just loved 'em all for different reasons. The 1930s gave hair sleek finger waves. With the '40s came elegant updos. Scarf-tied pony tails reigned supreme in the '50s; while bouffant styles were all the rage in the ‘60s. But the ‘70s just may be our favorite decade for ‘dos, and we couldn't be giddier to see two of the decades most popular looks cropping up again on some of our most beloved celebs.

Oh-La-Large
On screens big and small, ‘70s hair was large and in charge. Remember Farrah Fawcett's super styled look, complete with hefty rolled back wings? Her signature mane was copied by many a young gal, and today it's being emulated all over again. Nicole Richie has blossomed into a style icon with her classy and sophisticated attire. Yet she keeps her look fun and fresh by capping her lithe frame with an oh-la-large, ‘70s inspired and curled hair style. Other celebs recently seen donning the ‘do include the queen of reinvention herself, Madonna, and Jennie McCarthy.

Babysitter Hair
Off screen, the real gals of the ‘70s were wearing babysitter hair. Super long locks, somewhere between wavy and pin straight, which they wore parted straight down the center of the head. The ‘do had a carefree air in its tousled messiness. Celebs including Gwenyth Paltrow, Mischa Barton and Bijou Phillips have captured the essence of the do so much so that we find ourselves nostalgic for the days before hairdryers, when hair looked healthy and natural simply because it was.
